PRETTY LITTLE LIARS

Launch spot for The Perfectionists

I’m Mikael Tyrsen — a director, storyteller, and tech-driven creative based in Los Angeles.

I moved to the U.S. in 2006 chasing a career in entertainment, starting out in movie poster design before quickly working my way onto set. That foundation shaped how I direct today — highly visual, detail-obsessed, and always thinking about the full picture.

I’ve carved out a niche directing performance-driven branded content, especially working with non-actors and network talent. Through collaborations with NBC, Bravo, Hulu, and Disney, I’ve worked with personalities from hit franchises like The Real Housewives and talent at the level of the Kardashians — bringing out natural, authentic performances in fast-paced environments.

Problem solving is in my DNA. During COVID, while many were calling clients with problems, I was calling with solutions — building a remote camera system that allowed productions to continue safely. That approach led to over 100 spots produced during that time for Disney alone.

At the same time, I’m deeply technical. I’m just as comfortable crafting intimate character moments as I am building large-scale productions — from complex set builds to XR stages and LED volumes.

That attention to detail led me to create Martini, a production platform now becoming a standard tool on set — designed to streamline workflows and elevate collaboration across teams.

Beyond commercial work, I created Killabears, a Web3-born IP where I directed two short films — now evolving into a live-action feature currently in development with Seth Green and his production company.

My work spans everything from food to tech, collaborating with brands like Volvo, Heineken, Wendy’s, Facebook, eBay, DoorDash, Microsoft, Pfizer, Kohl’s, Crest, Disney, Quaker, NBC, Hulu, and Bravo.

At the core, I love building worlds, leading teams, and solving problems — then making it all look effortless on screen.
